World Cup 14+2
Finally a wrong prediction!!! Switzerland is eliminated. I am not sure but probably this is the first time in the world cup history that a team is being eliminated without conceding any goal!!! But don't forget that sometimes you need also to score!!! This is a very good lesson for people who insist in just defending and hope the goals coming somehow from the sky!!! (God bless Eriksson and England !!! Just kidding! He knows what he is doing.)

Actually can you explain what Eriksson is doing? I am a fan but they do not impress at all.
Actually I think what they do is enough! It may not seem impressive but it is very efficient. I love teams which are able to win 1-0 over and over again. I respect people who like to see some spectacular piece of plays like what Brazil and Argentina do but personaly this is not what I am looking for in a soccer game. Statistically speaking, I love the teams which play in a way to improve their expectations and not only to make a theater for me and you!
It is not that I did not get a show. You know I like defensive ugly football! But against Sweden and Ecuador they were really shaky. Compare to what the Germans did with these teams. Despite the fact that Portugal lost a set of important players I am pretty worried about their Saturday game.
What is your peoblem with 16? :-)

I think nothing is wrong with Eriksson strategies. The thing is that some players like Lampard or Rooney are not in their best shape. I completely agree with you about the Germans. However we know that the hosts have made it to the semi-finals in last 4 world cups except in 1994 (USA had a poor team that time). So there is a significant effect of hosting advantages on the results.
I don't have any problem with 16.This is only for emphasizing the fact that Neda's post is also included in the series of "World Cup" posts.
Right now I am in Banff (AB) for a statistics workshop. I strongly recommend you to visit Banff if you haven't seen it before! This place is spectacular!!!
